The Agency
„Book – Agency for Culture, Education, and Travel” designs trips, lectures, workshops, and projects for work, education, or pleasure.
The Agency plans both individual, thematic, informational, and educational trips for experts from different specialized fields and tourist trips through Germany, neighboring European countries, China and Taiwan.
Different sightseeing and walking tours in Berlin and other German cities are organized, too.
Another focus of the agency are lectures and workshops about the German school system, the higher education landscape, and the dual vocational training system.
Gerrit Book
Gerrit Book, founder of “Book – Agency for Culture, Education, and Travel”, lives and works in Berlin and Zurich.
He has degrees in Chinese language and culture, modern German literature, and teaching German as a Foreign Language from Humboldt University and the Free University of Berlin. An extensive world traveler, he has worked in Shanghai and Chengdu, China and in the US city of Boise, Idaho.
In his 20 years in the educational travel field, among his experiences, in addition to many individually organized and guided tours, Mr. Book has worked as:
- Program coordinator, planner and guide for the Visitors Program of the Goethe-Institut
- Lecturer in German or English on facets of the German education system
- Developer, tour leader and translator for the White Plains (NY)-based Holocaust and Human Rights Education Center’s Education Missions to Germany and Poland
- Developer, tour leader, and translator for the Transatlantic Outreach Program (TOP) of the Goethe-Institut Washington, DC
- Berlin city guide for Germany Close-Up Program
- Tour organizer and leader to China for the International Economic Summit Institute at Boise State University, Boise, Idaho
- Customized city and European and China tours organizer and guide for school groups from Boise and Borah High School, Boise, Idaho, Hathaway Brown School, Shaker Heights, Ohio, and New Rochelle High School, New York
- Co-author of Let’s Explore Modern Germany and Germany in Focus (Goethe-Institut Washington)
