Singing & Qigong Polyphony and the flow of Qi. Five inspiring and relaxing days in Mecklenburg (June 26 – 30, 2020 / booked out)

Breath, singing, and Qigong are a wonderful combination for body, mind and soul. And this in the middle of the beautiful landscape of Mecklenburg.

Already in May 2019 together with our participants we could enjoy the beautiful seminar house “Alte Dorfschule” in the small village of Liepen. It is located on the eastern edge of the Müritz National Park near Klein Vielen on the Old Mecklenburg Salt Road with its own lake for swimming as well as meadows, forests and many other lakes around it. Depending on the weather, we spend the days together indoors (in the seminar house and village church) or outdoors in the garden.

The workshop is aimed at all those who want to make their voice sound and get their body moving. It is suitable for singers and Qigong practitioners with and without prior experience. In the interaction of Qigong and singing we can recognize and release tensions, which leads to well-being, calms the mind, makes the movements in Qigong light and flowing and leads to free sound and relaxed singing.

We will fill the mornings with Qigong and singing and the afternoons offer enough time to relax individually or go out for different activities and excursions with others.

In the mornings, at noon and in the evenings we will usually eat together and in some evenings we will practice Qigong and sing together again.

Singing is the oldest and most original form of human expression. Singing is beneficial for body, mind and soul and promotes relationships and community. Therefore the singing part of this workshop focuses on singing two to four voice songs of different styles and epochs together.

Bulgarian folklore is sung with a different timbre than a pop song, for example. We want to create a specific sound for each song and therefore we use the appropriate vocal functions. Together we will discover how to master them without effort.

Knowledge of sheet music is not necessary! Audio files for practicing will be available at the end of April.

Qigong: Gerrit Book

At the beginning of each Qigong unit we will use various simple Qigong exercises such as pelvic circles, tapping and different sounds to get the Qi moving and to try to perceive it.

We will also learn the first part of a very beautiful Qigong form, the “Twenty Brocades”. This is a relatively modern Qigong form, but it borrows from the ancient “Eight Brocades” (Baduanjin). It is very versatile, not only because it combines different exercise elements and movements, but also because the practitioners acquire different directions of the space around them and at the same time the body is always centered and one’s own center can be felt.

Learning, practicing and experiencing, i.e. active and meditative phases will alternate and there will always be an opportunity for conversation and exchange.

Accommodation / Catering
We will be staying mainly in double rooms (single rooms on request and limited availability at extra charge) and on almost every day we will have three meals.
